Get connected! As you start to build and grow your sister city program, Sister Cities International’s membership provides you with the right connections globally, getting you all the answers you need. Sister Cities International can connect you with the right people — foreign diplomats, U.S. Department of State officials, as well as to fellow peers from the sister cities network to ensure that you have the right connections to strengthen your program. Our Annual Directory also ensures that your city and program get the visibility they need.
Spotlight on your sister city program! One of the most popular parts of the Sister Cities International website is the City Search, where people from around the globe search to find their sister cities. With a membership profile, your sister city organization and its partnerships are highlighted. Sister Cities International also provides promotional services that help others learn about your program. Our Communications team assists members in getting the word out about upcoming events, activities, delegation visits, and other sister city-related experiences to the public, media, and a network of thousands of volunteers. Additionally, in a time of international crisis or controversy, Sister Cities International guides member programs to effectively respond to the issues at hand.
Sister Cities International offers programs and services that give members a chance to enrich and grow their networks in several different areas. From introducing your city to prospective sister cities to structuring a program from the ground up, Sister Cities International staff are there to help members every step of the way. Sister Cities International also offers programs that engage youth from your community in the sister city movement. The Young Artists and Authors Showcase and the High School Homestay exchange program promote great cultural opportunities for the next generation of citizen diplomats. The Annual Awards give sister city programs international recognition for each winning community’s achievements and contributions to citizen diplomacy.
Sister Cities International provides members with key resources that help to efficiently build and grow a program. Before embarking on an exchange, receiving a delegation, or vetting volunteers, Sister Cities International’s membership provides you with access to visa consultations, discounted background check services, traveler’s insurance, and travel medical services.
