Sister Cities International is honored to be a part of this year’s U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue outcomes. This past week, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi chaired the Fifth Round of the U.S.-China Strategic and Economic Dialogue where they discussed major bilateral, regional, and global issues.

Sister City Inspires Gold Award Project


The sister cities network has over the years supported countless local youth initiatives, giving youth a chance to not only build cultural awareness but also create lasting friendships. Aesha Rajan, a high school junior from Fremont, CA, is one such youth who, using sister cities as a resource, created a program to connect students from two different cultures.

Doing an internship abroad is on the wish-list of many college students today. In Spring 2012, Medaille College, Buffalo, NY student Danielle Rollins too was searching for a senior-year internship related to her Business, Management, and Operations major.

Sister City Inspires Diwali Celebration


More than 15,000 people attended a “Diwali” celebration in the city of San Antonio, Texas last month making it the largest city sanctioned Diwali event in the United States. Diwali, also known as the “festival of lights,” is a five day festival widely celebrated in India.
