S. JAVAID ANWAR TO RECEIVE DISTINGUISHED LEADERSHIP AWARD AT SISTER CITIES INTERNATIONAL ANNUAL AWARDS DINNER

Washington, DC, (June 27, 2019) –Sister Cities International is honored to announce that S. Javaid Anwar will receive the Distinguished Leadership Award at the 2019 Annual Awards Dinner and Gala in Houston, Texas.

Each year, Sister Cities International presents the Distinguished Leadership Award to extraordinary companies and individuals who, through their efforts and accomplishments, have made significant contributions to society through the communities they serve.

“The Distinguished Leadership Award is reserved for those who have worked to make a remarkable impact on their communities,” said Roger-Mark de Souza, President and CEO of Sister Cities International. “Mr. Anwar’s dedication to corporate diplomacy and business leadership exemplify our mission: maintaining peace through people-to-people interactions.”

Anwar, a native of Pakistan, was born and raised in Karachi. He graduated from the Adamjee Science College and then graduated from the University of Wyoming.

Anwar is the CEO of Midland Energy, and serves as a member of Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, appointed by Governor Greg Abbott of Texas.  He is an ardent promoter of education, and has been a supporting sponsor of the award-winning Houston-Karachi Sister City Association for many years.

Most recently, the Permian Basin Petroleum Association awarded Mr. Anwar with the “Top Hand Award,” the highest honor given to acknowledge the tremendous contributions individuals have given to the oil and gas industry and the communities of the Permian Basin.
