2025 Sister Cities International Board Candidate
My career included positions in private, public, and non-profit organizations. I was the Dean of two Business Schools and established a Human Resource Leadership Institute. As Small Business Institute Director, I connected small business owners with resources to help their companies. As Executive Director, I supported quality initiatives. As a Policy Analyst for the U.S. Small Business Administration, I worked on pension policy research. My publications include a textbook collaboration, management articles, and conference presentations on management and education. I currently teach marketing, operations, and management online at Norwich University in their MBA program.
I serve on the Scottsdale Sister Cities Association Board of Directors as well as their Partnership and Membership Committees. We are working on events to raise community awareness of Sister Cities and growing our business partnerships. I chair a Strategic Marketing Planning Group collaboratively developing a five year strategic plan.
I chair the Scottsdale Library Board, representing them in community forums and on Library Strategic Plan development. I work with the Scottsdale Mayor and City Council in leading advocacy for funding and library support.
I served on the Board of Directors for the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs, chaired the Board of Commissioners (which makes accreditation decisions for U.S. and global business schools), and chaired Risk Assessment and Management to create/monitor a system for risk mitigation.
My educational background includes a Ph.D. in business from the University of North Texas (NTSU), and an MBA/B.S. in Business magna cum laude from Youngstown State University.
Since my first days of membership in my local Sister Cities Association, I jumped in with both feet, loved every minute, and knew early on that I wanted to continue with Sister Cities forever–helping on initiatives, leading in different ways, supporting the great work and ideas implemented from the Sister Cities International network, and more. After all, that we are dedicated to promoting peace, friendships, and connections between people and cultures around the world is one of the highest callings we can have on Earth, in my opinion.
I view serving on the SCI Board as an opportunity to be part of a team working toward a larger cause to do good for others locally and globally. Service on the Board builds a richer understanding and perspective on the big picture and the key issues driving strategic and other decisions in the future, which are important in leadership. For Sister Cities International: How willwe define success? Our future role/impact? How to achieve our goals in times of world change? (Intriguing questions) All the above inspired my interest in the Board position.
