Located in Southern Florida, the city of Opa Locka is seeking a sister city partnership to expand its support for the arts and to bolster commerce with economics benefits and strengths of the city. With a population size of over 16,000 people, Opa Locka has so much to offer from a historic city hall, and the largest collection of Moorish architecture in the Western Hemisphere. Due to the city’s architectural heritage, Opa Locka is interested in a city in the North Africa/Middle East region to connect over the unique architectural image. The city of Opa Locka wants to create a city partnership to create cultural exchanges, global travel opportunities, municipal government exchanges, and more opportunities for economic development to learn from each other.
