Carlos Martinez-Vela – CEO of The Hub of Human Innovation

Carlos Martinez-Vela is the chief executive officer at The Hub of Human Innovation, an El Paso incubator for technology companies. Martinez-Vela, 44, has worked on innovation and economic development, mostly in the private sector, for 20 years. He most recently was vice president of innovation and entrepreneurship at the Institute of the Americas at the University of California San Diego. He’s a native of Monterrey, Mexico. He has a master’s degree in technology and policy and a doctorate in technology, management and policy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, or MIT, in Boston, where he lived 21 years.
