On January 16, 2026, the Consulate-General of Japan in Houston presented the Commendation of the Head of Mission to Mr. Carlo Capua at a ceremony at the Consul General’s residence. Consul General Zentaro Naganuma recognized Mr. Capua’s service as a JET Program English teacher in Nagaoka City, his ongoing efforts to advance Japan–U.S. exchange in Fort Worth, his leadership as Chair of the Board of Directors of Sister Cities International, and his role in the success of the 2025 U.S.-Japan Sister Cities Summit in Izumisano City. Emphasizing the growing divisions within the international community, the Consul General underscored the importance of Mr. Capua’s work in strengthening people-to-people ties and reaffirmed the Consulate’s continued support for sister city and exchange initiatives.
