This year, Springfield, Missouri and Isesaki, Japan celebrate the 40th anniversary of their Sister Cities relationship. Founded on July 18, 1986, the Springfield Sister Cities Association’s Isesaki Committee has strengthened the bond between the two communities through educational exchanges, cultural festivals, student pen pal programs, artist and musician exchanges, and stewardship of the Mizumoto Japanese Stroll Garden. These enduring partnerships have fostered greater cultural understanding, lifelong friendships, and meaningful opportunities for residents of both cities. Congratulations to Springfield and Isesaki on 40 years of building connections that continue to enrich both communities.
