In 2025, Glendale, California, and Higashiosaka, Japan, celebrated the 65th anniversary of their Sister City partnership, commemorating one of Glendale’s longest-standing international relationships. Since its establishment in 1960, the partnership has promoted student and youth exchanges, cultural festivals, official municipal visits, and educational programs that have strengthened ties between the two communities. The anniversary was marked by Glendale Mayor Ara Najarian’s visit to Higashiosaka, where city leaders reaffirmed their commitment to expanding student exchanges and exploring future collaboration in sustainability, transportation innovation, and cultural diplomacy. The milestone celebrated six and a half decades of friendship while reinforcing both cities’ shared vision for continued international cooperation.
