Celebrating Mexican Heritage Through Riverbank’s Sister City Partnership with Tamazula de Gordiano

The Riverbank Sister Cities Committee celebrated its partnership with Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco, Mexico, through its second annual Mexican Independence Day Celebration on September 25, 2026. Held at the Antigua Event Center, the event brought the community together to celebrate Mexican culture, strengthen international connections, and raise funds for local students. The evening featured vibrant performances by Ballet Folklórico Viva Mexico and Casa Cultural Danza Azteca, comedy by Juan Carlos Arenas, and a silent auction. A commissioned painting by local artist Alexandra Riddle was also presented as a gift in honor of Riverbank’s sister city. The celebration welcomed special guest Mtra. Ma. de Jesús Ochoa Ortiz, who traveled from Tamazula to participate in the festivities. Having met its fundraising goal, the committee will award student scholarships in 2027. Through cultural celebrations and investments in young people, Riverbank and Tamazula continue to nurture a meaningful partnership that connects communities across borders.
