The ongoing partnership between Fountain Hills, Arizona, and its sister city of Ataco, El Salvador, was reaffirmed through a recent visit by Fountain Hills Sister Cities Ataco Chair Byron Roman. While traveling in Central America, Byron visited Ataco, where he was welcomed by former Mayor Oscar Gomez and joined local leaders in continuing the longstanding commitment between the two communities.
During his visit, Byron helped distribute 280 food packages to elderly residents through the “Meals for Elders” humanitarian initiative sponsored by Fountain Hills Sister Cities. Each package provided approximately two weeks of essential food staples for recipients, offering meaningful support to some of Ataco’s most vulnerable residents. The distribution reflected the generosity of the Fountain Hills community, whose fundraising efforts made the program possible.
The visit also celebrated the lasting impact of the Meals for Elders campaign, which was launched in response to the economic hardships and devastating flooding that affected Ataco in recent years. Through community fundraisers, charitable donations, and continued collaboration with local partners, Fountain Hills Sister Cities has helped provide food assistance while strengthening relationships with civic leaders and residents in Ataco.
