Since establishing a sister city partnership with Miyazaki, Japan in 1992, Virginia Beach has enjoyed a vibrant and rewarding relationship marked by student exchanges, diplomatic visits, and cultural collaboration. A centerpiece of this connection is the serene Miyazaki Japanese Garden at Red Wing Park, featuring a koi pond, stone pagoda, and arched bridge. Each spring, the garden bursts to life with cherry blossoms, welcoming locals and visitors alike to experience a slice of Japan in Virginia Beach.
