Why I Am Running for the Board of Directors
I am seeking election to the Board of Directors of Sister Cities International because I believe strongly in the power of citizen diplomacy to build understanding, trust, and lasting relationships across the world. Through my leadership and experience at the local level, I have seen firsthand how sister city partnerships create meaningful cultural, educational, and economic opportunities for communities of all sizes.
I want to bring that practical experience and passion to the international board by helping strengthen programs, expand engagement opportunities, and support member cities in achieving successful partnerships. I am especially committed to youth development, leadership opportunities, and creating pathways for the next generation to participate in global exchange programs.
As a representative from Virginia Beach, I would be honored to contribute a local perspective while helping advance the broader mission of Sister Cities International. I am eager to work collaboratively with fellow board members to grow the organization’s impact, support innovation, and ensure sister city programs remain relevant, vibrant, and valuable in an increasingly connected world.

Vision for Growth
Skills
My career began as a travel consultant helping eager travelers explore the globe. When I left my hometown of Pittsburgh PA, I pursued a definite international path and was the conference planner at NATO.
Because NATO involved frequent interaction with government officials, in 2016, The Mayor of Virginia Beach encouraged me to become involved with the Sister Cities Association of Virginia Beach. That same year, I joined this wonderful organization, contributing through event planning and fundraising. These experiences led to my current role as President of the Sister Cities Association of Virginia Beach.
I’ve made it a priority to empower young students and give them the opportunity to join our ambassador program. The students that I have mentored stayed with us and moved into international volunteering and careers.
I remain committed to strengthening our existing sister city relationships while seeking new partnerships that are a strong fit for our community.
I have worked to ensure that Sister Cities remains a relevant and valued part of the Virginia Beach community. To further support this mission, I have completed certification courses in international protocol and development, enhancing my knowledge and reinforcing my commitment to the Sister City mission.
