The Fort Worth-Mbabane community center project was funded by Sister Cities International’s Africa Urban Poverty Alleviation Program (AUPAP). AUPAP is a 3-year program focusing of developing such partnerships in Africa. AUPAP aims at alleviating poverty in 25 African cities through water, sanitation, and health project led jointly by U.S. and African sister city programs.

Youth Ambassador Program draws to a close
45 Students and eight teachers from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada recently completed the Youth Ambassador Program: Trilateral North America, a program of the U.S. Department of State’s Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau. The program consisted of two three-week exchanges to Mexico and the U.S. facilitated by Sister Cities International.
Unique arts structure celebrates sister city relationship
In 2011, Tacoma Sister Cities Council inaugurated a unique structure to celebrate its relationship with sister city Fuzhou, China. The award-winning “Fuzhou Ting”, a Chinese pavilion, is aimed at supporting Tacoma’s reconciliation efforts.

Buffalo celebrates 50th anniversary of sister city relationship with Kanazawa, Japan
In April, Buffalo, New York celebrated its 50th anniversary with sister city Kanazawa, Japan. The relationship, established in 1962, has seen several successful cultural, academic, business and youth exchanges.
