Congresswoman Kay Granger

The first Republican woman to represent Texas in the U.S. House of Representatives, Granger was chosen by her colleagues to serve as Ranking Member of the powerful House Appropriations Committee in the 117th Congress.

Before becoming Ranking Member, Granger served as Chairwoman of State and Foreign Operations and of the powerful Defense Appropriations Subcommittees. As Chairwoman of these committees, Kay was able to oversee many key programs that invest in the protection of our homeland. Kay made it a priority to rebuild America’s military, take care of our service members and their families, and reverse harmful budget cuts to our nation’s defense.

In recognition of her achievements, Granger has been awarded the Navy Distinguished Public Service Award, the Department of the Army’s Decoration for Distinguished Civilian Service, and the National Guard Association’s Distinguished Harry S. Truman Award. These honors are the top recognition given to civilians by the Secretary of the Navy, Secretary of the Army, and the National Guard Association, respectively.

A leader in national defense and global security, Kay Granger serves and fights for the 12th congressional district of Texas. In her time in Congress, she has earned her reputation as a hard-working, tough, and principled leader on the issues that matter most to the people she serves.
