President of the Universities Network on Innovation for Inclusive Development in Southeast Asia, a non-profit organization affiliated with the Development Studies Program of the Ateneo de Manila University, where he is also a Professorial Lecturer. He is presently a member of the Steering Committee of the International Network for Government Science Advice (INGSA-Asia). Also, Dr Romero writes a weekly opinion column for the local newspaper, Philippine Daily Inquirer.
Dr Romero was the Director of the Innovations at the Base of the Pyramid (iBoP) Asia Program of the Ateneo School of Government. He served as Executive VicePresident and Dean of the Graduate School of Public and Development Management of the Development Academy of the Philippines. And for over thirty years, Dr Romero was Professor of Political Science at the University of the Philippines.
